MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police responded to reports of “multiple fights” that broke out on Miami Beach.

Detective Vivian Hernandez told The Miami Herald (https://hrld.us/1eLBGp8 ) massive crowds had gathered on the sand between Sixth and Eighth streets on Monday. She says she’s unsure how many people were involved in the fighting, but estimated the crowd at around 2,000 people.

The crowds gathered on President’s Day, when many people were off from work and school.

Hernandez says large crowds are typical this time of year.

It was unclear whether anyone was arrested.
