EL MIRAGE, Ariz. (AP) - An El Mirage man has pleaded not guilty in the strangulation death of his girlfriend.

El Mirage police arrested Jesus Octoviano Tober in the killing of 24-year-old Patricia Coat after her body was found in an alley on Jan. 31.

Tober is charged with second-degree murder. He’s being held in lieu of $1 million bond.

A police statement said a witness interviewed by police saw Tober assault the victim early Friday morning before the couple went into a home across the street.
