GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) - Lander University is naming its soccer stadium for its longtime men’s coach.

The school said Thursday that the field at the athletic department’s Jeff May Complex will be named after Van Taylor.

Lander’s board of trustees gave final approval to the name in December and the 550-seat facility will be formally named Van Taylor Soccer Stadium at a ceremony in September.

Taylor has a 382-157-32 record in 29 years at Lander. His teams have made nine appearances in the NCAA tournament, won seven regular-season titles in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference and four league tournament titles.

Taylor said he had the help of many along the way to bring Lander success.
