NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - A malfunctioning drain atop Redbird Arena at Illinois State University in Normal allowed water from melting snow and rain to damage the facility’s basketball court.

WJBC Radio reports (https://bit.ly/NjtaI7 ) athletic director Larry Lyons says damage was limited to center court. He the team’s logo won’t look the same because parts will be replaced by panels from other sections of the floor. He says the repairs will affect aesthetics, but not the floor’s playability.

Lyons says no upcoming scheduled events will be affected by the mishap.

The next basketball game at Redbird Arena is scheduled for Wednesday against Indiana State. Lyons says permanent repairs to the floor won’t be made until later this year.
