NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Adams County supervisors have declared themselves voting members of the Natchez-Adams County Port Commission.
The Natchez Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/ME52zK ) that Tuesday’s action did not replace the current port commission members.
Supervisor Mike Lazarus says supervisors need to know more about the port’s operations in real time.
He says there is a lot of expansion going on at the port and supervisors can have some input.
Lazarus says he did not know if the supervisors would actually cast votes at the port commission meetings even though they granted themselves the right.
The port commission has five members, each representing the supervisors’ district in which they reside.
Port Director Anthony Hauer says the commission meets on the second Wednesday of each month.
