ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say an inmate in Anchorage stabbed a correctional officer with a pencil during a jailhouse assault.

KTUU (https://is.gd/Yczym3 ) says the officer was stabbed in the neck with a small pencil, similar to what would be used to score a golf game.

Troopers say the injured officer was treated at a local hospital and released following the Friday morning assault at the Anchorage Correctional Center Complex. The injury is not considered life-threatening.

According to troopers, charges will be forwarded to prosecutors when the investigation is complete.
