KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Tourists and locals can take a stroll through Key West and Florida history with guided tours of the 167 year-old Key West cemetery.
The Saturday event is part of a national celebration of Black History Month. The tours will lead guests past the gravesites of the island’s notable African-American residents. Guides will provide brief monologues of people like Sandy Cornish, who helped establish the community’s first black church, and Thomas Romer, who served in the War of 1812.
The event is sponsored by the City of Key West and the Historic Florida Keys Foundation.
