SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man arrested in southeastern South Dakota on charges related to providing alcohol to two teenagers who died in a single-car crash earlier this month has a history of furnishing alcohol to minors.

The suspect, Tyrone C. Gastineau, 42, was arrested Friday on charges including furnishing alcohol to a person under 18 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/1gWFzwH ) reported that court records show Gastineau in 2012 pleaded guilty in Sioux Falls to furnishing alcohol to a person younger than 21. He paid an $84 fine. The Arizona native also has a dismissed theft charge on his South Dakota record, and various theft, trespassing, disorderly conduct and liquor violations in the Phoenix area.

A Minnehaha County Jail representative on Saturday declined to confirm whether Gastineau has an attorney on record.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol has said 17-year-old Raphie Phan was driving a 2004 Honda Civic south on 463rd Avenue toward 268th Street on Feb. 16 when he lost control on a curve. The car entered the median and rolled, throwing Phan and 19-year-old passenger Amanda Rose Doty from the car. Both were killed in the accident in southwest Sioux Falls. According to the patrol, neither was wearing a seat bell.

Court records show Phan’s blood-alcohol level was .096. The legal limit is .08. Doty registered a .393 level.

Records show a half-gallon bottle of Svedka vodka was found at the scene.

The newspaper citing court records reported that Gastineau told police Phan called him Feb. 15 and asked him for alcohol. Gastineau said he, Phan and Doty later went to a liquor store.

Gastineau’s bond was set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
