FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Todd Minnick and Nick Olstad crossed the finish line in downtown Fairbanks shortly after noon Saturday to win the Iron Dog snowmachine race.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://is.gd/7RsWmb ) the duo from Wasilla finished 22 minutes ahead of the defending champs, Marc McKenna and Dusty VanMeter.

Minnick and Olstad won the 2,000-mile race five years ago, and Olstad said “it feels good to be on top again.”

The Big Lake-to-Nome-to-Fairbanks race included 38 teams this year. Twenty-five teams remained Saturday morning and all were on pace to finish during the afternoon.
