CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines attorney who once led Iowa’s Department of Public Safety has been sworn in as the top federal prosecutor in northern Iowa.

Kevin W. Techau took the oath of office Friday, saying he looks forward to “working with other members of the District’s exceptional legal and law enforcement communities.”

Techau won U.S. Senate confirmation earlier this month to be the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, which is based in Cedar Rapids.

Techau replaces Stephanie Rose, who has become a federal judge.
