HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. (AP) - A motorist who allegedly punched and kicked police officers during a motor vehicle stop earlier this year has been indicted on aggravated assault charges.
Sixty-year-old Paul Starosciak of Flemington also faces charges of eluding and resisting arrest in connection with the Jan. 8 incident in Hillsborough.
MyCentralJersey.com (https://on.app.com/1bZ9YuX) reports that Starosciak allegedly led police on a chase through rush-hour traffic on Route 206.
The chase started near the Montgomery Township border, when Starosciak allegedly refused to stop for an officer who had activated his lights and sirens. He eventually stopped his car, but authorities say he then threatened the officers and hit them before he drove off again.
The chase finally ended when Starosciak’s vehicle got stuck in traffic. But officers had to break a car window to remove him.
