LESLIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who died when a 40-foot tree he was cutting on his girlfriend’s Lansing-area land fell on him.

The Ingham County sheriff’s department identified the man as 61-year-old Bradford Wills. The accident happened Saturday in Leslie Township, about 15 miles southeast of Lansing.

The sheriff’s department earlier said that the man was cutting wood for most of the day, and his girlfriend was concerned when he didn’t return to her home. The department says he’d been dead some time when she found him about 5 p.m.

The department said the tree he was cutting with a chain saw was nine to 10 inches in diameter.
