FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - Election fraud charges against a City Council member in Forrest City have been dropped.

St. Francis County Prosecutor Fletcher Long told the Times-Herald (https://bit.ly/MVeGhG ) that he dismissed the charges against Louise Field after witnesses in the case failed to show up for court hearings.

Field was charged with felony possession of more than 10 absentee ballots and a misdemeanor count of helping more than six voters cast absentee ballots.

Field could not be reached for comment.

Long said most of the people Field allegedly assisted are elderly or simply not capable of coming to the courthouse. Long says the misdemeanor charge was dropped “a while ago” and the felony count was dismissed last week.
