BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Ferris State University is pledging to spend more than $1 million to upgrade its residence halls.

TV station WPBN-WTOM (https://bit.ly/MP7tQf) says the dorms are getting new flooring, lights, paint and better wireless Internet service. Students who live in West Campus apartments will see new appliances and doors.

The work should be done by fall at the Big Rapids campus.

Vice President Jerry Scoby says Ferris State wants to meet the expectations of students and give them a good value.
