Smock won the event Sunday at the USA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., with a jump of 45 feet, 3 ¾ inches.

It was Smock’s fifth American title in the triple jump. She won the outdoor championship in 2011 and 2012, as well as the 2012 and 2013 indoor crowns.

Smock’s last name was Thieschafer when she competed for NDSU and won three NCAA Division II national titles in the early 2000s.
