BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) - Transit police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s office are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by an MBTA commuter train in Billerica.

Authorities said the man, who was believed to be in his 20s, was hit by the northbound Lowell line train shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday while on the tracks near Pond Street.

Investigators say it appears the man, who was not immediately identified, was trespassing on the tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No injuries were reported among the approximately 26 passengers on the train.
