SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Park City pilot is counting his blessings after his single-engine plane went down shortly after takeoff from the Bountiful Skypark Airport.

Woods Cross police officer Chris Hoffman says the 42-year-old pilot started losing power so was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday afternoon in a field near 500 S. Redwood Road.

He told KTVX-TV (https://tinyurl.com/p59rxwa) the plane flipped over its front and landed on its top, but the pilot escaped serious injury.

Hoffman says another officer was nearby and witnessed the crash so authorities were on the scene in a hurry. He says paramedics determined the pilot didn’t need to be hospitalized.

The pilot’s name has not been released.

Hoffman says the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
