NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - State troopers have arrested two people and seized 74 pounds of marijuana in western Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says an officer pulled over a minivan for speeding and a lane violation on Friday afternoon near the North Platte exit off Interstate 80. The patrol says a drug dog taken to the scene alerted troopers to the presence of drugs. The troopers say they found the pot in an external luggage carrier atop the minivan.

The 36-year-old driver and his 30-year-old passenger were jailed pending charges of child endangerment and possession of marijuana for sale. A 2-year-old boy traveling with them was turned over to Nebraska child services.

Online court records don’t yet list the case.
