PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a transient has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a Phoenix home and sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint last month.

Phoenix police say 36-year-old Conrado Lopez-Moreno is being held on suspicion of sexual assault, aggravated assault and first-degree burglary.

The unidentified 27-year-old victim told police she woke up around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 5 and found a stranger armed with a knife trying to sexually assault her.

Police say the woman’s boyfriend was asleep in the same bed. He woke up and fought with the suspect, who broke free and fled the scene.

Police say evidence collected and submitted to a crime lab identified Lopez-Moreno as a suspect.

He was located Sunday and booked into jail.

Police didn’t immediately know Monday if Lopez-Moreno has a lawyer yet.
