CHICAGO (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Chicago woman has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison for swindling at least 1,000 senior citizens out of $800,000.

Federal officials say 30-year-old Tiffany Hall was sentenced Tuesday. She also must pay nearly $330,000 in restitution to more than 70 victims. She pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in January 2013. Hall has been in federal custody since her arrest in early 2011.

Prosecutors say Hall targeted elderly victims who were widowed or lived alone. They say she stole their retirement and life savings and used the money to gamble and buy cars and electronics.

Hall’s husband, 33-year-old Lawrence Hall, was sentenced last month to ten years in prison for his role in the scheme.
