SALEM, Ore. (AP) - An 18-year-old Silverton man was wounded by a ricochet bullet while target shooting with four other teens in a wooded area.

The Marion County sheriff’s office said Monday that one of the friends shot a steel target at close range with a high-caliber rifle and the bullet hit the victim in the neck. He was treated at Silverton Hospital and released.

The sheriff’s office says no charges will be filed, but it reminds target shooters to follow safety precautions.
