NEWTON, N.J. (AP) - A northwestern New Jersey woman accused of fatally beating her mother with a baseball bat last year0 has pleaded not guilty to murder and weapons charges.

Thirty-one-year-old Mirna Bolanos of Hopatcong also faces weapons charges in the death of her 56-year-old mother, Ligia Bolanos, who was found Aug. 28 at the Hopatcong home where they lived.

Mirina Bolanos remains jailed on $750,000 bail.

The New Jersey Herald (https://bit.ly/1hb9EbW) reports police went to the home the night before the killing because the women were arguing, and Mirina Bolanos said she wanted to leave the house for the night.

Police received another call from Mirina Bolanos the next morning, but the phone disconnected. When officers arrived at the home minutes later, they found her sitting outside and her mother inside.
