Man found guilty of stabbing 3 women

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - A federal jury has convicted a 31-year-old man of stabbing three women at a Poplar residence in March 2013.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says jurors found Robert Lewis Burshia guilty of three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Sentencing is set for June 5.

Prosecutors alleged Burshia arrived at a residence in Poplar on March 6, 2013, and began drinking alcohol with three women.

Court records say Burshia claimed a bottle of whiskey was his and then stabbed one woman, causing damage to her stomach that had to be surgically repaired. He then stabbed another woman who tried to protect the first victim.

Prosecutors say Burshia then went back to a bedroom where a third woman was sleeping and stabbed her.
