WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - Democrat Michael Morin has easily won a special election in Woonsocket for a seat in the state legislature.
Morin ran unopposed in Tuesday’s election after having won a three-way race in a Democratic primary last month. City officials say he received 233 votes Tuesday.
Morin is a Woonsocket firefighter and president of the local firefighters’ union. He succeeds former state Rep. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, who is now the mayor of Woonsocket.
