CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A barn owl injured after its wing was caught in a barbed wire fence has been released back into the wild.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (https://bit.ly/1pxnyZL ) reports that the adult owl was released Wednesday after spending about eight weeks at the Texas State Aquarium’s Second Chances Wildlife Hospital.

The owl’s wing had gotten caught in a fence on a ranch near Gregory, located just outside of Corpus Christi. The owl was released at nearby Live Oak Park in Ingleside.

Kelley Shutt, senior wildlife care specialist, says such an injury could have meant that the owl wouldn’t survive, but she says this owl had a good attitude and showed a lot of fight to survive.
