RIFLE, Colo. (AP) - A Rifle-area woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after a jury convicted her of cruelty to animals in connection with her treatment of horses, including one that had to be euthanized.

Pearl Dunlap was charged after investigators determined the animals had no feed and Dunlap failed to respond to complaints.

According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel (https://tinyurl.com/lj88erb ), four other boarded horses had to be removed from the property because they were considered abandoned.

Dunlap was convicted Jan. 31 after a two-day trial.
