ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Two California men have been arrested in Elko County after a Carlin police officer found nearly a dozen pounds of marijuana inside their car.

Police chief Bill Bauer says the two men appeared extremely nervous when an officer pulled them over for failing to stop at a stop sign on Tuesday.

He says one of the men gave permission to search the vehicle before the officer located several packages of pot weighing about 11 pounds.

Bauer says 21-year-old Maarten Adams of Truckee and 20-year-old Kenneth Hill of Redding were arrested on suspicion of possession and intent to sell a controlled substance, and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substance Act.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (https://tinyurl.com/kclubjr) Hill also was charged with failure to yeild at a stop sign.
