GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - Corrections official say an inmate has died a week after he arrived at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown.

The Department of Correction said Friday that 48-year-old Ronald Shoup of Wilmington died Thursday morning at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. Officials say he arrived at SCI on Feb. 20 in default of bail on numerous charges, including fifth offense DUI.

Shoup’s body has been turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, as is standard procedure. The medical examiner and Delaware State Police are investigating Shoup’s death.
