Former Cleburne County teacher sentenced for sex

ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - A former Cleburne County teacher and coach received a one-year sentence for having sex with a student.

Circuit Judge Brian Howell ordered the sentence Friday for 33-year-old Bronson Ward. He pleaded guilty in January to having sex with student. The judge gave him credit for 155 days already served in the county jail. When he finishes his sentence, he will have to serve one year under house arrest and have to perform 1,000 hours of community service.

Ward took responsibility during the sentencing hearing and said he was sorry.

WBRC-TV (https://bit.ly/1d33uZS ) reported that the girl’s father read a letter in court saying the day Ward recruited her for the girls’ basketball team was the day a predator marked his prey.

Ward still faces charges of having sex with another female student.
