PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - A 30-year-old Port Huron Township woman who was driving under the influence of prescription pills has been sentenced in the deaths of two men in a traffic crash.

The Port Huron Times Herald reports (https://bwne.ws/1oc28y0 ) that a judge sentenced Lisa Bergman Friday to up to 50 years in prison.

Bergman was found guilty last month of two counts of second-degree murder and operating under the influence causing death. Her pickup truck collided July 20 in Kimball Township with another truck occupied by 19-year-old Russell Ward and 20-year-old Koby Raymo.

Witnesses testified that Bergman’s vehicle crossed the center line, causing the collision.

In a letter of apology to the victims’ families, Bergman said Friday that she was very selfish in her “way of living” and “only cared about feeding” her addiction.
