FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - There will be more emergency vehicles at Fort Jackson this week, but there’s no need to be alarmed.
The post is conducting a mass casualty exercise Tuesday. Officials say anyone near the area will notice an influx of emergency vehicles and broadcasts throughout the day.
The exercise lets the fort and agencies in the nearby community train on how they would respond to a pandemic or chemical or biological attack. The exercise will assess the response and help officials tweak their contingency plans.
