FARMINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Farmington police say a man found dead at a reservoir last week had walked away from a minor car accident and apparently died from hypothermia and pre-existing medical problems.

An ice fisherman found the body of 35-year-old Louis Fix of Bristol at the Farmington Reservoir on Friday. Police say Fix was involved in a one-car accident on Wednesday and his family hadn’t seen him since.

Police say someone stopped at the accident site and asked Fix if he needed help, but Fix said no. The person called police, but officers didn’t find anyone at the crash scene.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated that Fix likely died of hypothermia and pre-existing medical conditions. But officials in the medical examiner’s office are waiting for toxicology test results before issuing a formal ruling.
