SCHUYLER, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 30-year-old man has died in a one-car accident on a central New York road.

Troopers say Scott Shepardson of Schuyler was driving on Cosby Manor Road around 9 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a utility pole in his Herkimer County hometown, located just east of Utica. The vehicle hit the pole on the driver’s side.

Police say Shepardson was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
