BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say an officer shot a man they say was speeding toward two officers.

Police say officers were pursuing a suspect in a string of armed robberies on Monday and he drove down a dead-end street in east Baltimore. That’s when police say the man turned his car around and as he sped toward the officers, one officer opened fire, striking the man.

Police say the man continued driving, but was caught a short time later. The man was taken to a hospital and police say neither officer was hurt.

Officers searched the man’s car and police say they found a gun inside. They say he also tossed items taken during an armed robbery from the car.
