WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A man was struck by a car while crossing a West Valley City street, then got hit by two other vehicles while lying in the road.

West Valley City police Deputy Chief Mike Powell says in a statement late Monday that the 49-year-old man is hospitalized in stable condition after being hit Thursday and breaking several bones. His name wasn’t released.

Police say the man was crossing the street around 7:30 p.m. when a car struck him. The driver stopped and called 911, while other people pulled over to help and tried to block the area with their cars.

Powell says two motorists went around the barricade, running over the man.

Police are seeking the cars that drove away, describing them as a small, light-colored vehicle and possibly a dark-colored SUV.
