COTTONDALE, Ala. (AP) - A Tuscaloosa County woman has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after she was attacked by a pack of dogs in Cottondale.

Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Norris told AL.com (https://bit.ly/N3MuJU ) the 73-year-old woman was out for a walk Tuesday afternoon when four dogs attacked her. Norris says the largest dog, a pit bull, knocked her to the ground and bit her heels and leg.

A neighbor heard the woman screaming for help and chased the dogs off. County sheriff’s officials and animal control officers were called to the scene.

Authorities say three of the dogs were captured and the fourth ran into a heavily wooded area. Norris says deputies will return to the area to try finding the dogs’ owner.

The woman is being treated in the DCH Regional Medical Center.
