BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The Boulder County district attorney has asked for a prosecutor from another district to take over the trespassing and drug case against the son of Colorado Sen. Mark Udall.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported Wednesday (https://tinyurl.com/l8h9984 ) that DA Stan Garnett cited his friendship with the Udall family and his involvement in Udall’s campaigns. Both are Democrats.

Twenty-six-year-old Jedediah Fox-Udall faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and trespassing.

The sheriff’s department arrested Fox-Udall on Jan. 30 after a report that a man was breaking into cars in Eldora Springs, a semi-rural community west of Boulder where his father lives.

Fox-Udall told deputies he was looking for cables to jump-start a car with a dead battery.

He’s free on $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 20.
