DENVER (AP) - Secretary of State Scott Gessler is the latest Republican candidate for governor who says he won’t participate in GOP primary debates or forums.

Gessler’s campaign said this week he will not attend a debate sponsored by The Denver Post (https://tinyurl.com/kduyy92) on Feb. 18.

In December, former congressman Tom Tancredo said his campaign will boycott primary debates, saying they only give Democrats fodder for the general election.

Four other Republican contenders have confirmed they will be at The Post debate. They include state Sen. Greg Brophy, former state Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp, Adams County businessman Steve House and money manager Jason Clark, who ran for governor in 2010 as an unaffiliated candidate.
