CORUNNA, Mich. (AP) - A 35-year-old Michigan man who says he put his friend’s body in a large trash bin after the man died of an apparent drug overdose faces up to six years in prison.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/1nPtOLM ) 35-year-old James Douglas Cummings pleaded guilty Tuesday in Shiawassee County Circuit Court to lying to a police officer. Sentencing is scheduled for March 21. Cummings is free on $15,000 bond.

Cummings told the court that in March he placed 30-year-old Aaron Idle’s body in the bin near Cummings‘ home in Owosso Township, about 30 miles northeast of Lansing.

Idle was reported missing that month and was considered missing until June. The case prompted as search of a landfill in Genesee County, since the contents of the bin were hauled away.
