CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The state is accepting nominations for an award that recognizes outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of senior citizens in New Hampshire.

An individual or couple over age 60 from each county in New Hampshire will receive the Joseph D. Vaughan Award at a special ceremony on May 5 at the State House.

The award was initiated in 1962 to memorialize Vaughan, who helped create a state agency dedicated to the well-being of senior citizens.
