BATESVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Travel on Interstate 74 in southeastern Indiana has been tangled by a jackknifed semi and slick conditions that left drivers unable to make it up a hill.

The eastbound and westbound lanes were closed for a time Wednesday morning in the stretch between Batesville and the Indiana-Ohio state line because of the semi wreck.

State police Sgt. Noel Houze says the area saw both snow and freezing rain from the winter storm.

He says traffic stalled Wednesday morning on westbound I-74 approaching the Indiana 1 interchange because of a slick hill. He says drivers should avoid the area until after highway crews are able to treat the road.
