HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) - The Umatilla County sheriff’s office and Hermiston police reportedly are investigating a shooting that killed one man in northeast Oregon.

KNDU reports the shooting happened Tuesday afternoon in a rural area. The station says the man was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center, where he later died.

District Attorney Dan Primus tells the East Oregonian that the local major crimes team is investigating a man’s suspicious death in the Hermiston area. He did not identify the victim or the cause of death.

Primus says the state medical examiner will perform an autopsy this week.
