BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - Raleigh County has moved a precinct for an upcoming election because of a rock slide that has closed part of W.Va. Route 3 since late December.

Deputy County Clerk Cecilia Chapman tells The Register-Herald (https://bit.ly/1fQeMku ) that most of the voters in the precinct live below the rock slide. They will vote at the Raleigh-Boone Technical Center instead of Marsh Fork Elementary.

The county is holding an excess levy and bond call election on Saturday.

Chapman says the state Department of Transportation couldn’t guarantee the road would be passable on Saturday.

The road has been closed to general traffic near Sundial since three large boulders fell on Dec. 27. Crews have been working to stabilize the mountainside.
