YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Yuma say an elderly woman is dead after being struck by a motor scooter.

Yuma police say 96-year-old Lucienne Sears was walking on a sidewalk Monday afternoon when a 16-year-old girl lost control of her scooter as she was making a turn.

Police say the scooter hit a curb and then collided with Sears.

She was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The teenager was treated for minor injuries at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Her name hasn’t been released.

Police said Tuesday that the accident remains under investigation.
