STRATTON, Vt. (AP) - Twelve alumni from a Vermont winter sports academy are competing in the Winter Olympics.

The athletes, who attended Stratton Mountain School, will compete in downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Five of them are from Vermont, including silver medalist snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis of Stratton.

Others are from around the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the Czech Republic.

The school says this year is the largest number of alumni to compete in a single Olympics.

In the school’s four decades, 42 student athletes have become Olympians.

The school community will be watching the opening ceremonies at the school on Friday night.
