MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT, Iowa (AP) - Authorities on Thursday continued to investigate a double homicide on the Meskwaki Settlement in central Iowa, where a husband and wife were found dead in a home.

The Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa said local authorities were called to a home late Wednesday night and found the bodies of Gordon Lasley Sr. and Kim Lasley, The Des Moines Register reported (https://dmreg.co/1e6UmPS ). Authorities have said they were investigating the deaths as a double homicide but have not released additional information.

One person was brought in for questioning in connection to the case, but more information is not available, authorities said.

“The Sac and Fox Tribe is a very close-knit community and we are all shocked and saddened by this,” said tribal chairwoman Judith Bender said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all of those who are affected by this horrific event.”

Gerald Sanache, a neighbor, told the Register that Gordon Lasley Sr. was a relative. He said he grew up on the Meskwaki Settlement in Tama County.

“They were real good people,” he said of the couple. “It’s a total shock.”
