HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) - Family members of a 19-year-old suburban Chicago figure skater who’s competing in the Winter Olympics say they’re not worried about security in Russia.

Steve Brown’s son Jason Brown won the silver medal at the U.S. Men’s Figure Skating Championships last month in Boston.

The elder Brown told The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (https://bit.ly/1nWrfr4 ) he believes the games in Sochi (SOH’-chee) will be “very safe,” despite warnings about terrorism threats.

Lisa Malvin, one of Jason Brown’s cousins, says she’s trying not to worry.

But Malvin says staying home isn’t an option.

She says “if the athletes are safe, we’ll be OK.”
