BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Bridgeport officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that killed two cats and a dog.

Residents in the neighborhood told the Connecticut Post (https://bit.ly/1e5Br8c ) that they saw the house on Berkeley Place burst into flames Wednesday afternoon. They say flames were shooting out of the windows when firefighters arrived.

Fire officials say none of residents who live in the house was home at the time. The fire caused major damage to the house.

Firefighters had to deal with several inches of snow and ice from a storm on Wednesday and had to run water hoses hundreds of feet to the house.
