PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s Division of Motor Vehicles has suspended the license of a driving instructor charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old Providence woman during her lesson.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1gQSId4 ) Administrator Tony Silva said Thursday the DMV decided to suspend the license of Hector Ramirez and Providence Driving School “for the protection of the public” as the criminal investigation continues.

Ramirez allegedly gave the woman what she thought was a mint and she started feeling dizzy and tired. She told police she parked the car and felt Ramirez fondling her as she fell asleep. She woke up later outside her home.

Ramirez was arraigned Monday and is free on bail. He declined to comment earlier Thursday when contacted at home.

A hearing on the school’s license suspension will be held.
