PINEVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A suspect wanted in three states was captured in southwest Missouri after a chase that authorities say included two car thefts, a sheriff’s car being rammed and a store robbery.

Douglas T. Brown, 46, of Pineville, is wanted in South Carolina, Ohio and Louisiana for charges including burglary, assault and theft of weapons. He is jailed in McDonald County on $2,500 bond after being charged Wednesday with vehicle tampering.

Authorities said the chase began Tuesday near Noel when Brown refused to pull over for a traffic stop on Missouri 59, The Joplin Globe reported (https://bit.ly/N7KIYb ).

The car was found abandoned at a home south of the Shady Beach Campground, where a pickup truck was reported stolen, authorities said. When the pickup was seen headed to Oklahoma, McDonald County Sheriff Mike Hall drove into that state and saw the truck at a convenience store on Highway 10.

The suspect fled with Hall chasing, eventually ending up at a dead end on a gravel road, authorities said. Brown turned around and rammed the sheriff’s car, sending it off the road, they said. Two deputies fired at the truck’s wheels but it kept going.

A short time later, a robbery was reported at The Smoke Shop on Route on the Missouri side of the Missouri-Oklahoma line. Authorities allege the suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money. They say he barricaded the store clerk in a bathroom and left with the clerk’s car.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers then saw the car and chased it into Southwest City, where the suspect was arrested without resistance while he hid behind a house, authorities said.
